The stakes

40% of Nashville’s Highland Rim Forest — 50,168 of 127,000 acres — is in this district, and 80% of the district is forest. More than 90% of the forest is privately owned, which is why conservation funding, easements, and land acquisition are where this story is actually decided. RS2025-1549 — recognizing the portion of the Western Highland Rim Forest within Metro Nashville as “Nashville’s Highland Rim Forest” — was filed 9/30/2025 (sponsors Kimbrough, Ewing, Allen, Spain). Its final adoption status is one Legistar lookup away and this page will say so plainly once confirmed.
