Every issue we track links the body that will decide it. The Planning Commission meets the 2nd & 4th Thursdays (agendas post the Friday before); the Board of Zoning Appeals meets the 1st & 3rd Thursdays at 1:00 p.m. in the Sonny West Conference Center. Metro Council and committee agendas live on Legistar, each with its own calendar download.
Learn how decisions get made
- What’s the zoning on a parcel? Metro’s Parcel Viewer shows any property’s zoning district.
- What’s being proposed near me? The Development Tracker maps active applications — we review a saved District 1 filter weekly.
- Why does my area have fewer services? Much of the district is in the General Services District (lower taxes, fewer services) — a distinction worth knowing before any services debate.
- Rural by design: most of the district’s land carries NashvilleNext T2 Rural policy, which limits density on purpose. Residents co-wrote the Bells Bend Detailed Design Plan with Metro Planning in 2007–08.
Volunteer for D1United
This site runs on about an hour a week: a Monday sweep of meeting notices, community calendars, and the Facebook group, plus a monthly directory spot-check. If you can give 30 minutes a week — or you run an organization and want to keep your own listing current — say so in the group.
